The
2009 Clinton County Fair has now come and gone, and on behalf of
the Board of Directors, I wish
to
publically thank the leadership of Clinton County for helping us
avoid a very nasty situation. If the
economic challenges of 2009 were not enough, the daily dose of
heavy rain almost did us in. The daily
soaking cumulated to the point on Saturday evening to where our
grass parking lots were determined
to be
un-usable. Many cars had to be towed out of the deep mud. Sunday
is always our biggest day at
the
Fair with crowds of people showing up for the annual demolition
derby. Without parking for our
guests, our choices were very limited.
A decision was made to seek permission to park cars at the
former Clinton County Airport just down
the
road. We also needed a way to then transport guests from the
former airport to the Fair Grounds.
Thanks
to the leadership at the County level, we were able to use the
former airport, and use CART
Busses
and drivers to help shuttle people back and forth.
Yes, it was a tough week, but we were able to get through a very
difficult situation thanks to the
support of our friends. We also wish to thank our loyal fair
goers for understanding our predicament.
Please
know we work very hard all year long to produce an affordable
and fun family event.
We
look forward to seeing you all again next year.
We also send our thanks and gratitude to all the many
Volunteers, Fire & EMT’s, State Police & Sheriff,
Vendors, and of course our Sponsors.
Sincerely,
Glenn Gillespie
