Dirty Dancing
‘DIRTY DANCING’ COMING TO CLINTON COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS DRIVE-IN THEATER
MORRISONVILLE — The drive-in theater at the Clinton County Fairgrounds is bringing drama, dance and romance to its big screen with evening showings of “Dirty Dancing” on Friday, July 24 and Saturday, July 25.
The film will begin at 9:15 p.m. on both nights, with gates opening at 7:30 p.m.
The 1987 pop-culture classic stars Jennifer Grey as 17-year-old Frances "Baby" Houseman, who spends the summer with her parents at a resort in the Catskills, where she falls in love with dance instructor Johnny Castle, played by Patrick Swayze.
“Dirty Dancing” features an award-winning soundtrack and was the first film to sell more than a million copies on home video.
“It’s on many people’s lists of favorite movies, and we’re excited to show it on our big screen at the drive-in,” said Clinton County Fair Manager Mike Perrotte.
In lieu of set admission fees, attendees will be asked to make a donation with a portion going to The North Country Honor Flight.
“Dirty Dancing” marks the theater’s fourth film since its grand opening in June, when the venue reached capacity with showings of “Grease.”
Drive-in theaters have seen a resurgence in popularity across the country amid the COVID-19 pandemic, as the need for social distancing prevents people from visiting indoor theaters.
“It’s a way to create new summer memories with a twist of nostalgia while still being safe and responsible,” Perrotte said.
All attendees will be required to follow strict guidelines put forth by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and local health agencies to prevent the spread of COVID-19. These guidelines can be found at www.clintoncountyfair.com and by visiting Clinton County Fair, NY on Facebook.
Details about future film showings at the drive-in theater at the Clinton County Fairgrounds will be shared as they become available.

2020 CLINTON COUNTY FAIR CANCELED DUE TO COVID-19 CONCERNS
MORRISONVILLE —The Clinton County Fair, planned for Tuesday, July 28 through Sunday, Aug. 2, has been canceled amid public-health concerns resulting from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
“After careful consideration and out of concern for the welfare of the community, the Board of Directors has made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Clinton County Fair as a preventative measure,” said Clinton County Fair Manager Mike Perrotte.
This decision was made in consultation with the Clinton County Health Department and in accordance with the department’s recommendations, as well as those of the CDC. These recommendations stress the importance of community mitigation to help slow the spread of respiratory virus infections.
“Having been closely monitoring CDC recommendations, New York state’s PAUSE executive order and the recommendations of state and local health authorities, we feel that it would be socially irresponsible to move forward at this time with such a large public event that attracts crowds from many different places,” Perrotte said.
For these same reasons, the Plattsburgh Bluegrass Festival, which was scheduled to take place at the fairgrounds on August 13-15, 2020, has been rescheduled for next year.
“While it’s disappointing to go without the fair and festival this year, the health and safety of our community members are our top priorities,” Perrotte said. “We look forward to continuing our long-standing tradition of providing family friendly fun and entertainment next summer.”
